By leaving equipment with Ashmore Mower Centre for inspection, diagnosis, servicing, quotation, warranty assessment or repair, the customer acknowledges and accepts the following Workshop Terms & Conditions.
Inspection & Quotation Fees
A $50 inspection fee applies to machines submitted to our workshop for inspection or diagnosis. This fee is payable when the job is submitted and will be deducted from the final amount payable where the quoted repair proceeds and is completed.
For construction equipment, a $120 inspection fee applies and is payable when the equipment is submitted.
If the customer chooses not to proceed with a quoted repair, the applicable inspection fee is non-refundable. However, the inspection fee may be redeemed towards the purchase of a new machine from Ashmore Mower Centre within 3 months of the inspection date.
Inspection fees contribute towards the technician’s time involved in inspecting, testing and diagnosing equipment and, where required, preparing a repair quotation.
When We Prepare a Quote
Where the estimated total repair cost is expected to exceed $250, including labour, Ashmore Mower Centre will generally prepare a quotation before proceeding with the repair. This threshold does not apply to construction equipment.
Repairs estimated to total $250 or less, including labour, may be completed without further approval unless otherwise agreed when the equipment is submitted.
If additional faults or repair requirements are discovered that would cause an approved repair to materially exceed the quoted amount, we may contact the customer for further authorisation before continuing.
Quote Validity
Workshop quotations are valid for 30 days from the date they are prepared.
After this period, parts pricing, availability and labour requirements may need to be reassessed and a revised quotation may be required.
Parts availability and supplier pricing are subject to change without notice.
Diagnostic Disassembly
Customers acknowledge that the nature and extent of a mechanical fault cannot always be determined through an external inspection.
Where reasonably required to diagnose a fault or prepare an accurate quotation, Ashmore Mower Centre may undertake partial or complete disassembly of the machine, engine, transmission or affected components.
By submitting equipment for inspection, diagnosis or quotation, the customer authorises reasonable diagnostic disassembly where required.
The applicable inspection or quotation fee remains payable if the customer subsequently chooses not to proceed with the repair.
Declined Repairs & Reassembly
Where equipment has been dismantled as part of the diagnostic or quotation process and the customer declines the recommended repair, the equipment will be returned in its dismantled condition.
The standard inspection fee does not include labour required to reassemble equipment following a declined quotation.
If the customer requests reassembly, labour will be charged at Ashmore Mower Centre’s current workshop labour rate, presently $120 per hour. The total cost will depend on the extent of disassembly and the work required.
Reassembly does not constitute a repair and does not guarantee that the equipment will be operational, safe or serviceable afterwards.
Ashmore Mower Centre may reasonably decline to reassemble equipment without completing the recommended repairs where reassembly would be unsafe, impractical, technically inappropriate, require replacement of parts the customer has declined, or may result in further damage.
Where reassembly is declined for these reasons, the equipment will be made available for collection in its dismantled condition, subject to payment of applicable charges.
Economic Write-Offs / Not Worth Repairing
Where the estimated repair cost is considered excessive having regard to the equipment’s age, condition, extent of damage or replacement value, Ashmore Mower Centre may assess the equipment as an economic write-off / not worth repairing.
The applicable inspection or diagnostic fee remains payable where the equipment has been inspected and the repair does not proceed.
Customers should arrange collection of equipment assessed as not worth repairing as soon as reasonably possible.
Uncollected Equipment, Storage & Disposal
This section applies to equipment that:
- has been repaired and is ready for collection;
- has been quoted and is awaiting approval or instruction;
- has been assessed as an economic write-off / not worth repairing; or
- will otherwise not be proceeding with repair.
Customers are responsible for responding to quotations and collecting their equipment within a reasonable period after being notified.
Where equipment remains uncollected or no instructions have been received for more than 90 days, a storage fee of $25 per week may apply from that point until the equipment is collected, authorised for repair, or otherwise lawfully dealt with.
Where equipment remains uncollected for 6 months following notification or our request for collection, Ashmore Mower Centre may take steps available to it under applicable Queensland law to sell, scrap or otherwise dispose of the equipment to recover outstanding repair, inspection, storage and associated costs.
Any sale or disposal of uncollected equipment will be subject to applicable legal requirements, including any required notices and waiting periods.
Equipment remains the customer’s property unless and until ownership is otherwise lawfully transferred or the equipment is lawfully sold or disposed of.
Customers are responsible for ensuring that the phone number, email address and other contact information supplied to Ashmore Mower Centre remains accurate and up to date.
Parts Availability
Repair timeframes are subject to the availability of replacement parts.
Older, discontinued or uncommon equipment may have limited or no replacement parts available, and Ashmore Mower Centre cannot guarantee ongoing parts availability for every machine.
Where required parts are unavailable or the repair cannot reasonably be completed, the equipment may be returned unrepaired and applicable inspection or diagnostic fees may still apply.
Additional Faults
Inspection or repair may identify faults that were not apparent when the equipment was originally submitted.
Where significant additional work is required beyond the authorised repair, we may contact the customer for further approval before proceeding.
Ashmore Mower Centre is not responsible for pre-existing faults, deterioration or failures unrelated to the work performed by our workshop, subject to applicable consumer guarantees.
Repair Timeframes
Any repair, parts arrival or completion timeframe provided by Ashmore Mower Centre is an estimate only.
Workshop demand varies throughout the year, and completion times may be affected by parts availability, supplier delays, manufacturer warranty approval, additional faults and other circumstances outside our reasonable control.
Customers can use our online Job Status tool to view the latest available update relating to their repair and our current estimated workshop turnaround information.
Warranty Repairs
Manufacturer warranty repairs are subject to the relevant manufacturer’s warranty conditions and approval process.
Submitting equipment for warranty assessment does not guarantee that the fault or repair will be accepted as a warranty claim.
Ashmore Mower Centre may need to inspect and diagnose the equipment and obtain supporting information before submitting a warranty claim to the manufacturer. Repairs cannot necessarily proceed until the manufacturer has assessed or approved the claim.
Where a warranty claim is declined, applicable inspection, diagnostic, repair or other charges may become payable by the customer. Where appropriate, we will seek approval before proceeding with chargeable repair work.
Proof of purchase may be required for warranty claims.
Equipment Condition & Personal Items
Customers should remove unnecessary accessories, valuables and personal items from equipment before leaving it with the workshop.
Ashmore Mower Centre will take reasonable care of equipment while it is in our possession but is not responsible for pre-existing damage, deterioration or faults unrelated to the work undertaken, subject to rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Payment & Collection
Unless otherwise agreed, all applicable workshop charges must be paid before or at the time equipment is collected.
Where available, customers may pay eligible workshop invoices through Ashmore Mower Centre’s online Job Status and payment system before collection.
Equipment may be retained until outstanding authorised repair, inspection, diagnostic, storage and other applicable charges have been paid, to the extent permitted by law.
Customer Approval & Special-Order Parts
Approval of a repair quotation authorises Ashmore Mower Centre to perform the work described in that quotation and to order parts reasonably required to complete the approved repair.
Parts specially ordered for an approved repair may not be returnable or refundable where the supplier does not accept their return, subject to the customer’s rights under applicable law.
Australian Consumer Law
Nothing in these Workshop Terms & Conditions is intended to exclude, restrict or modify any consumer guarantee, right or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law or other applicable legislation.
Ashmore Mower Centre reserves the right to update these Workshop Terms & Conditions from time to time. The terms applicable to a workshop job will generally be those in effect when the equipment is submitted, unless otherwise required by law.
